Frequently Asked Questions

Photo Model: Cici Anderson
Recently I went to have my teeth cleaned. Upon finding out that I am a boudoir photographer, my dental hygienist had ALL the questions for me. I thought they were things that others might be interested in learning about too, so I decided to blog about them for you.
8 Frequently Asked Questions
Do I do my own hair and make up? Do I have to find someone who does? I work with several amazing hair and make up artists. I will schedule one for the hour before our photo session begins.
What if I don’t have a sexy face? That’s ok! I usually go over what expressions my clients like on their face before we begin. Sometimes its a smile, or a look away, closed eyes or a special smirk. The most important thing is that it feels authentic to you.
Do I bring my own lingerie? I have a client closet with pieces for many women, that said, we are all shaped differently. You are welcome to bring pieces of your own if you want as well. I find my brides especially want to have a special set for their honeymoon.
I have heard it’s a groom gift, what do you give exactly? That’s up to you, but albums and mini accordions are very popular as groom’s gifts. I personally also love wall art for your boudoir or bathroom. I have samples I can show you, and different fabric swatches for the covers so that you will know just what your gift will look like when it is finished.
How long is the session? I allot up to 2 hours for shooting, but I am often finished in a hour and a half. I build in the extra time in case my client is nervous or just needs some time to warm up to the process.
How much do you edit? I always edit blemishes and bruises. Beyond that, it is up to my client. Frequent requests are: cellulite smoothing, lighting of armpits and scar removal. I do not do body modifications, I think that does more harm than good.
How many pictures will I see? I usually show clients somewhere between 80-100 pictures. You will see the best of the best!
What about inspiration? I want to do it, but I don’t know what to do exactly. I LOVE helping with inspiration. I usually ask for a Pinterest board, so that I can see what you think is beautiful or sexy. But I will talk with you about concepts and different directions we can take your shoot at your in person consultation. Some recent concepts and ones that I think are cool are: horseback riding, cake smash, anything with water, sports inspired, and book themes. I also love helping clients construct part of their identities or characters they fantasize about. I can make you a goddess, domina, or queen, a fairy, animal or butterfly. You tell me what lights you up and we will make it happen!
